Samantha Brown Travel Channel's Travel Goddess
76Travel Channel's Traveling Diva
Samantha Brown, Travel Channel’s best known traveler, is now celebrating her tenth anniversary as one of their best TV travel experts. Samantha has traveled extensively through at least four continents on her travel series: Passport to Europe, Passport to Latin America, Passport to Great Weekends and Great Hotels. After ten years of showing us how to live like the natives, presenting great hotels, restaurants and places of interest, she has become for many the Who’s Who of the travel industry.
Samantha Brown was born on March 31, 1969 in DallasTexas, but grew up in Derry, New Hampshire. She loved to sing as a young girl and took voice lesson for twelve years. She attended Syracuse University to study musical theatre. Samantha’s early career included doing commercials; she played the spokes person “Wendy Wire” for Century Cable. She is involved in the comedy sketch group, Mouth; they are based in New York, where she has lived the past ten years.
We all know the world is a stage and Samantha decided that would be her perfect platform. In 2000 Samantha auditioned for the Travel Channel, for a new show that showed viewers hotels, vacation destinations in the United States and throughout the world. She became a success. With her winning smile and great style she became Travel Channel’s traveling sweetheart. She has hosted five series since her start in 2000, and continues to dazzle viewers with fascinating places, and amazing people from around the planet done with Samantha’s warmth and charm.
We all need someone to share our travel stories with. Samantha’s special someone is Kevin O’Leary who specializes in computer servers. They got married on October 28, 2006. Even though Samantha’s a busy girl, there’s always time for love and romance.
I remember seeing many of her Passport to Europe programs, as well as her Passport to Latin America. I was very impressed with her documentary on Chile. She did an incredible job of showing of Chile’s dynamic capital, Santiago. The show gave viewers a feel for Santiago’s exciting and fun streets, beautiful hotels, incredible seafood, and the lovely people that make up this exciting city. She gives the viewers information on the hotels and places to dine, as well as unwind. Samantha is basically a traveler’s best friend and guide.
Passport to Europe is also incredible. She has traveled through cities, in both Western and Eastern Europe. Each city that she has explored has a beauty and character all its own. The people she meets are welcoming and take a great deal of pride in their countries. I especially loved the episode where Samantha traveled through the legendary city of Rome. She went to the Pantheon, the Coliseum, the Trevi Fountain (which is Rome’s largest fountain), and explored the Vatican City. She stayed at the Hotel Art in Via Margutta, Rome. If you have the time, you may want to explore the web site for this fabulous hotel. Here’s the link for your convenience: http://www.hotelart.it/. While in Rome, Samantha drank Italian Coffee and got to enjoy Rome’s nonstop nightlife.
Samantha doesn’t just do shows where she goes to trendy places. In one the episodes of Passport to Latin American, when she went to Granada, Nicaragua, she rode with the locals on a bus where the ladies carried hens on their laps. Samantha is one adventurous dame. When visiting Santiago Chile, she went to the Cascada de las Animas, which legend has it, that these are what are known as the waterfalls where the three naked fairies used to bathe in. When Samantha took a dip in the freezing water of these falls, wearing a one piece bathing suit, she had but one comment, “the ladies were naked?” Those waters must have been very cold. Samantha has also been to the mountains of Machu Pichiu, Peru, where she went hiking. So whether it is dining out with the jet set of Europe, or hiking in the mountains of Latin America, Samantha is your all around, seasoned travel expert.

It's so funny- people either love Samantha Brown or want to kill her- but only so they can take her job!

I saw this show and I was amazed as to how humble and respectful Samatha Brown was towards the people and the history of Machu Picchu. After watching this clip, I plan to go to Machu Picchu!
